Serinus® 30

Carbon Monoxide (CO) analyser

Increased carbon monoxide concentrations are a threat to both the outdoor and indoor environments. The Serinus 30 Carbon Monoxide Analyser uses Non-Dispersive Infrared Spectrophotometry (NDIR) technology to measure CO in ambient air, in the range of 0 – 200 ppm, with a lower detectable limit of 40 ppb. Delivering precise, reliable and real-time data insights, it measures trace levels of carbon monoxide to ensure that people across various industrial or commercial environments can operate safely.

Non-dispersive infrared technology

Serinus 30 operates on the principle that CO absorbs infrared radiation (IR) at a wavelength near 4.7 microns. IR radiation (at 4.7 microns) is passed through a five-metre folded path length through sample air. The strength of the signal received is proportional to the amount of CO in the sample. A band pass filter is fitted to the sign
A gas filter correlation wheel is combined with this system, which contains three parts to increase measurement accuracy: CO, N2 and the mask.

  • The CO window contains saturation (40%) of CO which acts as a reference beam – absorbing a known amount of light.
  • The N2 window, containing 100% N2, does not absorb IR at 4.7 microns at all and is used during normal CO measurement.
  • The mask totally blocks the light source and is used to determine background signals, the strength of other signals relative to each other and the background.

Superior air quality monitoring for global environments

Air quality monitoring is increasingly important in today’s urban, industrial and rural areas. The Serinus® range of analysers has emerged through 40+ years of experience and knowledge gained from operating large air quality monitoring networks. The result is a superior portfolio of instruments that integrate seamlessly into continuous monitoring networks. They not only measure human exposure to pollutants but can be combined with trace/background monitoring as well as stack monitoring – thus becoming a vital tool for governments and organisations to track and abate air pollution and its effects on their immediate environment.
