Palas Fidas® 200 provides accurate measurement in several environmental monitoring research studies
The results from comparative air quality monitoring studies suggest that the Palas Fidas® 200 aerosol spectrometer provides consistently accurate measurements with significantly lower whole-of-life costs than its current monitoring system.
Optical method verses TEOM
Investigations of the Palas Fidas® optical technology for measuring particulate matter (PM) shows similar accuracy to instrumentation that utilises a Tapered Element Oscillating Microbalance (TEOM) and Filter Dynamics Measurement System (FDMS) – but at a much lower cost.
Air quality monitoring instruments, like the Palas Fidas® 200, use an optical light scattering method that can measure multiple PM size ranges within a single instrument. Less maintenance is required, and annual services are offered onsite, which means there is no need to return the analyser back to the laboratory for service. This greatly assists in minimising down time and overall cost. Regulatory precision at a lower price, the Fidas® 200’s operational costs are between 50-87% lower than the TEOM/FDMS system.
Palas Fidas® technology produces finer time resolution than is possible with the hour average from the TEOM with FDMS.
The level of skill and training required to operate and maintain the Fidas® 200 was also much lower than the TEOM, making it much simpler to operate.
