Site Decontamination

Overview

Measurement of particulates and heavy metals during site remediation programs requires careful selection of instrumentation. Ecotech offers a complete monitoring solution tailored to this application.

Site decontamination often requires the removal of large amounts of soil resulting in the release of hazardous particulates into the local community. To minimise community exposure monitoring authorities may apply strict rules as to the concentration of particulates produced by a site.

The challenge is to determine a sites contribution of particulates compared to ambient concentrations. For instance if particulate concentrations measured downwind from the site is 40 ug/m3, yet with no wind concentrations are still 35 ug/m3 then should the site decontaminator be penalised?

Ecotech offers a solution incorporating real-time particulate monitors, meteorological sensors and our data acquisition and reporting software to calculate each sites actual contribution to particulates measurements.

Products and systems of interest include:
  • Particulate Samplers
Suitable for the monitoring of PM10, PM2.5, lead and other heavy metals in ambient air

  • Particulate Monitors
Suitable for the continuous monitoring of PM around sites.

  • Meteorological Systems
Suitable for monitoring of meteorological conditions in order to determine direction of air emissions
